Burn After Reading

The CIA is a division of Wall Street and if you don't believe it then you are not going to believe this from bailoutsleuth.com, but you just can't deny it either. For many years now there has been a tendency towards secrecy which has now erupted into blatancy. This is not the first time that the treasury has redacted public documents. The members attending the meeting the weekend before Bear Stearns crashed as were minutes from meetings of the plunger protection gang; does this sound like something from Mission Impossible? Still don't believe me; check it out yourself on Treasury's website - the first one is here blacked out section on page 25 of the PDF and the second one is here (blacked out section on page 5 of the PDF). Remember when Dole running against Clinton speaking of Lewinsky cried "where's the outrage", well I guess it so I'm thinking now where's the outrage, Where's the Outrage?

I have been crying "Where's the outrage?" Ever since 15 September when Lehman went Bankrupt, then received $138 Billion Dollars from JP Morgan of which the Federal Reserve NY repaid JP Morgan $87 Billion on behalf of Bankrupt Lehman. And the Government has NEVER ACCOUNTED FOR THAT MONEY! $87 Billion Dollars of tax payer money given to JP Morgan without any explanation or expectation of repayment. And the Government maintains they expended NO Money in relation to Lehman Brothers!

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? They don't even try and hide it anymore. They figure they have everyone so scared nobody would dare question them. And the scarry thing is they might be right! I tried many times to get MSM types to report and I contacted high level Congressional Leaders and nobody responded. $87 Billion Dollars Gone!

Dillion on CNBC this morning asked why can't he get any accounting of the Treasury's payments of the initial $250 Billion. He wanted to know what was "so secret" about a Quarter Trillion Dollars of Tax Payer Money Being Spent.

It's high time we better start asking, "Who in the hell is running this country?" Since when did Government Appointees start deciding what the American Tax Payer Should and Should Not Know About His and Her Money being Spent? Who is Getting it, How Much are They Getting and Why are They Getting it?

Regarding the Simpson Thacher contract, I'd say the government is getting a pretty good deal. I mean, how many clients can get 2632 hours of toney law firm work for $300,000? That's around $114 an hour, not deducting for staff and overhead. I know their regular rates are a lot higher than that.

Sure, I'm outraged generally, but the disclosure on this contract doesn't invoke outrage. It's more along the lines of "why are they working so cheaply?"

Reports are edited all the time. just becasue something is blacked out doesn't NECESSARILY mean there is something nefarious going on, does it?

under any other context i would probably not care to know the rates paid to lawyers and bankers on competitively awarded contracts. but w/ the corruption and opaque actions of the Treasury/Fed, redactions like this piss me off.

The outrage is not about the price, it's the secrecy. You are probably right about the government getting a good deal, but tell me what kind of deal the gov is getting from section B.1 page 5. You can't because it's blacked out and that's outrageous!
